Primrose Hill Family Photographer

Being a Primrose Hill family photographer recently was an absolute joy. The lovely family in the image below had booked one of my 3-hour London family photography sessions and had chosen wonderful locations for the shoot. Their little girl had just turned one and to celebrate her parents were keen to have family photographs taken at some of London’s best landmarks.

Family portraits at Tower Bridge

We began the family photoshoot near Tower Bridge and got a fantastic variety of photos in front of this iconic bridge. We also used the nearby historic riverside street Shad Thames as a backdrop to some of the family portraits. And on the north side of the River Thames we got some fun colourful images at St Katharine Docks. This hidden gem of an area added a lovely contemporary feel to some of the portraits.

For the second part of our London family photography session, we made our way to Primrose Hill. For those of you who don’t already know it Primrose Hill is a hilltop park near Regents Park. It’s a beautiful spot and has the most stunning views over the city. It really is well worth a visit if you’re in London. And it was the perfect location for this part of our baby photography session. The portraits taken in this beautiful park provided a wonderful contrast to the ones at Tower Bridge.

The image below was taken at the best viewpoint in Primrose Hill. I love it as the view really is breathtaking. But above all the interaction between the family is lovely. If you’d like your very own family portrait with a view please do get in touch. Fun Children’s Photographer

If you’re looking for a fun children’s photographer then look no further! I make sure all of my London family photography sessions are enjoyable. When you look back on the whole experience of having a family photoshoot with me, I want you to remember the fun time we spent together. As well as loving the resulting photographs of course!

In this particular family photography session, the mum had booked one of my 1-hour shoots. She was keen to get some fun portraits of her three boys together before the family moved out of London. The location she chose for the photos was their favourite local London park. This was the perfect choice as it’s the place they had spent so many happy days together.

Fun action sibling portraits

After taking some natural portraits of these two boys with their baby brother, we went for something a little livelier! In the park there was a pretty tree lined path which always works brilliantly for family and children’s photography. I often take some portraits of the whole family standing together in this beautiful spot and then some images of the children walking or running. It can produce some quite funny results, especially as children rarely run at the same speed. They always see it as a race!

These two brothers had so much fun competing against each other and we ended up with a series of brilliant action shots. It was difficult to choose a favourite for this blog post, but I went for this one in the end. I just love the excited smiles on the boys’ faces and the outstretched hand of the older brother pulling his sibling along.

Book your own fun children’s photographer!

I enjoyed this London children’s photography session so much. If you’re interested in booking one for your family, details on how my family photoshoots work can be found here London Children’s Photographer

London twin baby photographer

What a delight it was to be a London twin baby photographer recently. Meeting and photographing families all over London is such a fantastic job to have. When there is a young baby in the family it’s pretty special. And when there are two young babies to be photographed it is just about the best job I can think of!

So I was over the moon when this lovely couple booked one of my London family photography sessions. They had welcomed fraternal twin daughters into the world last November. Because of the escalating covid situation they were unable to have any professional newborn portraits taken at the time. Now the lockdown was beginning to ease they were keen to have some family portraits taken outside in the summer sunshine.

The family lived in a beautiful area of London surrounded by acres of parkland, so I knew we would be spoilt for choice with backgrounds for the photos. As they had such young twins we began the session right outside their home. This meant they could relax and didn’t have to worry about travelling too far.

London Twin Baby Photographer with roses and lavender….

The first photos we took were in a picturesque courtyard. It was full of white roses and purple lavender, both of which featured in the family portraits. We then walked through a shaded tree-lined path, which worked perfectly for more family portraits. After that we arrived at a gorgeous open space full of long grass, where we captured some of my favourite images of the day. These are the ones where the mum and dad are holding their sweet smiling daughters up in the air. As the twins were just starting to sit up unaided, we also managed to take some photos of them alone, sitting in the long grass, which they were very happy to play with.

I enjoyed this twin baby photography session so much and was pleased when I heard the parents were delighted with the photos. If you’d like to see more of my London baby photography just follow this link London Baby Photographer

Shad Thames Baby Photography

It felt amazing being back doing some Shad Thames baby photography recently. In my life before the pandemic I used to spend a lot of time in this fantastic area of London. Being just around the corner from Tower Bridge, it was one of the most popular choices for my London Vacation Photography sessions. Sadly this was one of the areas of my photography business badly affected by the lockdowns. With families unable to travel on holiday to London I have really missed doing these fun sessions at London’s landmarks.

Quieter streets for London family portraits

On a positive note though these normally busy locations have been much quieter than usual when I’ve photographed families living in London. And the emptier streets have made even more perfect backdrops for family portraits.

The lovely family in the photo below had booked one of my longer 3-hour London photoshoots, as they were keen to have some images taken around the fantastic area of Tower Bridge, as well as at their home and local park. We met up near the River Thames early one morning to begin our session. From the moment we met I knew we were in for a fun morning. The parents were delightful, and their little girl was all smiles. In fact, she hardly stopped laughing for the whole time we were together!

Tower Bridge and Shad Thames Baby Photography

After taking lots of natural family portraits by Tower Bridge I took the family to the nearby Shad Thames. They weren’t familiar with this historic riverside street and were very happy to be visiting it for the first time. We took lots of photos using the converted warehouses as the backdrop, and the one below was one of my favourites. I just love the excited look on the little girl’s face and the matching expression of her mum gazing happily at her.

If you’d like to take advantage of the quieter than usual streets around London’s landmarks and book one of my family sessions, please do get in touch. Other examples of my work at London’s most beautiful attractions can be found here London Vacation Photographer

Professional Children’s Photography

I really do feel incredibly lucky having professional children’s photography as my job. It hardly feels like work sometimes! The image below was taken during one of many fun London family photography sessions I’ve done recently. I had photographed one of the boys at his nursery, where I take the children’s portraits every year. And the mum liked the photos she saw so much that she booked one of my family photoshoots for her three boys.

Professional Children’s Photography in the Park

This children’s photography session took place in the family’s local park in London. It’s a park that meant so much to the family as it’s where they spent most of their free time together. And as they were about to move out of London this special location had taken on even more meaning.

I spend a lot of time during all of my family sessions photographing the action as it unfolds. No posing, just allowing the children to play while I take candid shots of them. But I also make sure I get some relaxed portraits of the family together, which does take a little organising. But I make sure it’s still done in a fun way, so the smiles in the photos are genuine. If the photos are just of the children, I’ll often ask one of the parents to stand behind me and make them laugh. After all they know their children the best and will have an idea how to produce some giggles. It could be a favourite family joke, or a bit of crazy dancing or the odd slightly rude word, I’ve heard it all! I can’t remember what the mum did to get her lovely boys to smile for this photo but it worked. And I just love the natural children’s portrait it helped to create.

If you’d like to book a professional children’s photography session with me, please do get in touch. And to see more examples of natural kids portraits please take a look here London Family Photographer

Baby Twin Photography

This recent baby twin photography session was an absolute joy. We’d had a couple of false starts because of bad weather (I’m always happy to reschedule if this happens). And when we finally met up, we were blessed with the most gloriously warm summer’s day.

Professional baby photography

When these very sweet little baby girls were born the country was heading into another strict lockdown, so the family had been unable to have any professional photos taken. As soon as everything started to ease, they booked a London family photoshoot with me. So the twins were around six months old when I photographed them. This is a lovely age for a professional baby twin photography session as you can really see each baby’s personality. Also they are usually starting to sit up unaided, so it’s possible to take some creative portraits of them alone, not only in their parents arms.

The perfect location for a baby twin photography session

This London family photography session took place in the communal gardens surrounding the family home. It really was a stunning location with fields and trees stretching for miles. And there was a pretty courtyard garden full of roses, which was the perfect spot to begin the family photoshoot. And when I saw the lavender in one of the flower beds I knew it would look wonderful in the foreground of one of the photos. I just love the resulting family portrait, with the mum interacting with one of her baby daughters, who is laughing with joy. While the dad looks fondly on and her twin sister gazes peacefully into the distance.

I really hope you enjoy seeing this natural family portrait as much as I enjoyed creating it. To see more of my London baby photography please do take a look at the gallery on my website here – London Baby Photographer

Wandsworth Wedding Photography

It was fantastic to do some Wandsworth wedding photography last month. It was my first wedding in a while, and I loved it! Due to restrictions it was a small wedding. But to be honest I think they are wonderful. There’s something incredibly intimate about two people marrying just in front of their closest friends. And for these two it was even more special as they are expecting their first baby later in the year.

Perfect weather for Wandsworth wedding photography!

This Wandsworth wedding took place in May, which as you probably remember was an unbelievably rainy month. We kept an eye on the weather forecast all week and it was uncertain if we would have rain or sunshine on the day. Well how lucky we were! The Friday before poured with rain all day, but on the Saturday we were blessed with a dry day. The sun even made an appearance for a bit!

We met up at Wandsworth Town Hall before the ceremony to take a few wedding portraits. This can be a lovely thing to do (if the couple are happy to see each other before the service) as there is such excitement in the air about the day ahead. After a wonderful ceremony, where I took one of my favourite photos of the day (the one where the happy bride is walking down the aisle towards her husband to be) it was time for some group shots and then followed the reception.

Some cool wedding portraits!

For the meal they had chosen the very stylish London Stock Restaurant, which was just a few minutes walk from the Town Hall. As the guests all made themselves comfortable in this wonderful venue in Wandsworth’s Ram Quarter, we had time to do some more bride and groom portraits. There were some great backgrounds by the restaurant that provided beautiful backdrops for this lovely couple. My favourites were the restaurant itself, a striking blue wall and some very cool graffiti. Then it was back to the party where the couple relaxed and enjoyed this very special day with their friends.

I loved this Wandsworth wedding photography so much. If you’re getting married in Wandsworth, or anywhere in London, and are looking for relaxed coverage of your big day, please do get in touch. More examples of my London wedding portraits can be found here London Wedding Photographer

Natural School Photography

As well as working as a London family photographer I also offer a natural school photography service. It’s something I really enjoy doing, so I was delighted to return recently to a school I photograph every year – Fulham Boys School.

Natural School Photography in Fulham

Every time I return to this wonderful school, I take photos for their website and new prospectus. The school has now been open for nearly seven years, and it’s been amazing to watch it grow and develop. This year was particularly special as Fulham Boys School had finally moved into its permanent site on Fulham Road. It was so exciting to explore this fantastic new building. It’s been brilliantly designed to suit all the needs of the Fulham Boys. And it was also a photographer’s dream – with huge windows letting in lots of lovely natural light.

I made my way in and out of the classrooms, taking natural school portraits of the boys hard at work. I also spent some time out in the playground, capturing candid moments of the boys chatting and playing.

Then I visited several of the many fantastic clubs that the school offers. It was great to photograph the boys playing chess, creating some culinary delights in the kitchen and making music in the school orchestra.

Sports photography in Fulham

I finished my day of natural school photography with a trip to the local playing fields where the boys take part in various sports. FBS is passionate about its sport and I enjoyed photographing the boys playing rugby, football, cricket and tennis.

I really enjoyed this very special visit to the Fulham Boys School and look forward to seeing the images in their new prospectus. If you’re interested in my London School Photography please do get in touch. To see other areas of my work please visit my website here London Family Photographer

Natural portrait of brothers

I’m so happy to share this natural portrait of brothers with you. I took it during a recent London family photography session. Actually, to be precise, I took it within the first minute of this family photoshoot!

Natural portrait of brothers and toys!

Sometimes when I arrive at the family home it can take a little while to encourage the best smiles from young children. But not with these two! After a quick chat with their parents, I got my camera out and sat down on the floor near where the boys were happily playing. The floor behind them was strewn with toys, which I love as it’s real life. I don’t need clean backgrounds for my family portraits, the backdrop of family life will do just nicely.

As soon as I sat down both boys were fascinated with my camera. And as they looked with interest, they also gave me the biggest beaming smiles. Just like that we had a gorgeous portrait of these two siblings, playing happily together amongst their favourite toys. And they didn’t stop with one smile, they carried on for ages. I think it’s one of the best starts I’ve ever had as a London family photographer!

Relaxed family portraits

After a while we got some relaxed portraits of the whole family together, which were fun and full of more smiles. Then we decided to head outside and have a change of scene for the photographs. The family home was in a fabulous London location, right next to the River Thames and with lots of green space. This provided some perfect backdrops for more relaxed family portraits and lots of candid shots of the boys playing with their cars and tractors.

I hope you enjoy seeing this smiley brothers’ portrait as much as I enjoyed taking it. If you’d like your own children photographed in a relaxed London family photography session, please do get in touch. Details on how my family photoshoots work can be found here London Family Photographer

Wandsworth wedding photographer

I really enjoyed being a Wandsworth wedding photographer for a day recently! Although most of my work is now with families, I still photograph the occasional wedding and I love it!

When I started my photography business, I had the privilege of photographing many weddings all over the country. Fantastic full-length weddings covering bridal preparations through to the evening dancing. Every single one of those weddings was special and an honour to photograph. Ten years on I’m so busy with my London family photography sessions that I sadly don’t have the time to travel and photograph whole day weddings any more. So I only take on shorter London weddings these days, which works brilliantly for me.

As anyone trying to organise a wedding recently knows, it has been a nightmare because of the pandemic. The guidelines surrounding weddings have changed so often that most couples have had to alter their plans numerous times. I feel so sorry for them as organising one wedding is hard enough!

This was the case for the couple in the photo below. After initially wanting to marry last year they eventually decided to have a small wedding for close friends last month. Then hopefully they’ll be able to have a huge celebration, as originally planned, next year!

Wandsworth wedding portraits

The wedding day itself was wonderful! The intimate ceremony at Wandsworth Town Hall was beautiful and followed by a fun-filled meal at the fabulous London Stock Restaurant. Not only did the food look amazing, but the restaurant was surrounded by some great backdrops for the bride and groom portraits (more to follow in another blog post!) so I was very happy!

The couple were so lovely and great fun to spend time with and photograph. I just love the sheer joy that shines through in the image below. It was an extra special day to photograph as well, as they are expecting their first baby, giving them even more to smile about!

I loved being a Wandsworth wedding photographer for the day. If you’re getting married there and are looking for relaxed coverage of your day, please do get in touch. I have bespoke wedding collections to suit all needs. More examples of my London wedding photography can be found here London Wedding Photographer
