London baby Photography – Frequently asked questions

What’s your approach to baby photography?
My baby sessions are calm, natural, and completely baby led. There’s no rushing, no strict plan, and no expectation for your baby to do anything in particular. I work gently and patiently, allowing plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and settling - whatever your baby needs on the day.

When is the best age to photograph my baby?
There’s no single “right” time - it really depends on what you’d love your images to reflect.

I’m always happy to help you decide what feels right for you.

Where does the session take place?
Newborn sessions usually take place in your family home, where everyone feels most relaxed.

For older babies, sessions can happen:

We’ll always choose what suits your baby and your family best.

How long does a baby session last?
Baby sessions are relaxed and baby-led. They usually last around an hour, which works well for most families, but there’s no pressure to finish at a set time. If your baby needs extra time for feeds, changes, or cuddles, I’m very happy to stay a little longer so everything feels calm and unhurried.

What if my baby cries or won’t settle?
That’s completely normal - and absolutely nothing to worry about. Babies cry, need feeding, and sometimes just want to be held. I build time for all of this into every session, and some of the loveliest images come from those comforting, in-between moments.

What should we wear?
Simple, comfortable clothing works beautifully. Soft, neutral tones tend to photograph well, and it’s best to avoid bold logos or busy patterns. The most important thing is that you feel like yourselves - I’m always happy to offer guidance if you’d like.

Do we need to tidy the house?
Not at all. We’ll use areas with nice natural light, and I’ll gently guide you if we need to move things slightly. Your home doesn’t need to look perfect - it just needs to feel lived in.

Do you photograph parents and siblings too?
Yes, absolutely. I’ll capture a mixture of images - your baby on their own, with each parent, and together as a family.

Do you photograph in colour or black & white?
I deliver a mix of both, choosing what works best for each image and feels most timeless.

How and when do we see our photos?
Your edited images will be ready to view in a private online gallery around one to two weeks after your session.

What can we buy after the session?
After viewing your gallery, you can choose:

I’m always happy to help you decide what will work best for you.

How do we book a baby session?
Just get in touch and we’ll find a date that works for you. Many families book before their baby arrives so I can keep my diary flexible and plan the session once their baby is here. To secure your booking, I’ll ask for a signed contract and the session fee to be paid in full.

Still have questions?
If you’re unsure about timing, what to expect, or whether a baby session is right for you, feel free to get in touch - I’m always happy to chat and answer any questions.
