London Family Photography – Frequently asked questions
What’s your photography style?
My approach is very natural and relaxed. I focus on capturing what’s really happening - the play, the laughter, the cuddles, and all the little moments in between. There’s no pressure to pose or perform. The aim is for everyone to enjoy themselves, which is what brings out genuine expressions and real personality (especially with children!)
When do family sessions usually take place?
Morning sessions work best, and earlier is usually ideal. The light is beautiful, children tend to be well-rested and happy, and if we’re heading to a park it’s often quieter and more relaxed too.
Where will our session take place?
Your session can take place:
- In your family home
- In your local park
- Or at another favourite London location
Both urban and green spaces work beautifully - what matters most is choosing somewhere that feels comfortable and familiar to your family.
How long does a family session last?
Most family sessions last around an hour, which gives us plenty of time to relax, move around a little, and capture a lovely variety of images without it feeling rushed.
What if it rains?
A couple of days before your session I’ll check in once we have a clearer idea of the forecast. If rain looks likely and you’re keen for outdoor photos, we can reschedule. Alternatively, we can still go ahead - indoor sessions are lovely, and kids in wellies jumping in puddles can make for wonderful photos too!
Will you take any posed family photos?
Yes - I’ll always make sure we get some relaxed portraits of you together as a family. These are lovely to have. Most of the session, though, is about letting things happen naturally and capturing moments as they unfold.
Do you photograph in colour or black & white?
I deliver a mix of both. I choose whichever works best for each image and helps tell your story in the most natural and timeless way.
How and when do we see our photos?
Around one to two weeks after your session, your edited images will be ready to view in a private online gallery.
How long do we have to choose what to order?
Your gallery will be open for 7 days, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the images and decide what you’d like to purchase.
What if my child is unwell?
These things happen - I’m very happy to reschedule if your child is ill. I just ask that you let me know as soon as possible.
Should we bring anything along?
Absolutely - feel free to bring favourite toys, games, balls, bubbles, or anything your family loves doing together.
What should we wear?
Whatever feels like you. Coordinating rather than matching works really well, and simple outfits photograph beautifully. If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you think it through.
Are you insured?
Yes - I have both public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
How do we book a session?
Just get in touch and we’ll find a date that works for you. To secure your booking, I’ll ask for a signed contract and the session fee to be paid in full.
