Working as a London Musicians Photographer I photograph lots of musicians on their own, when they need images either for a website or perhaps a concert programme. In this case I was lucky enough to photograph not just one but two musicians together. Sadie and Jeremy, a wonderful violinist and pianist, had just recorded the complete Brahms Sonatas in November last year when they asked me to photograph them to create some publicity shots. They chose Greenwich Park for the occasion and it now seems to be a regular location for me as I’d already done a number of other shoots there during the year. This suited me down to the ground as I think it is a lovely place to wander around, with so many wonderful backdrops to feature. Add two talented musicians and you have the recipe for some perfect pictures.
I like to add something different to portrait shots of musicians – Sadie and Jeremy were brilliant and happy to go along with a whole range of different ideas. The results we ended up with reflected their personalities very well and it was a relaxed and easy morning as we strolled together through the park. Even a little rain didn’t put us off – can’t wait to hear their CD when it comes out.
