This wedding on a farm in Dorset last summer was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end! Although I spend most of my working life as a London family and wedding photographer I do travel further afield on special occasions! And this wedding was certainly something special!
Birthday Party at the Shard!
I had photographed the bride’s birthday party in the spectacular Shangri-La Hotel in the Shard in 2017. It was a wonderful event with such a lovely family and the most incredible views over London. You can take a look at the blog post of the party here Birthday Party at the Shard So I was over the moon when I was asked to photograph the couple’s wedding in Dorset last summer. I didn’t have to think twice about travelling out of London – it was an immediate yes from me!
A Glamping Wedding!
The wedding took place over a whole weekend, starting on the Friday night with a pizza evening. The bride and groom are keen campers, so they were staying, along with many of their families and friends, on Knoll Farm in Wareham. Some more seasoned campers had brought their own tents, whilst others were in glamping tents, which had been put up especially for the wedding weekend. The pizza party was great, with lots of yummy food and outdoor games. The evening ended with the most stunning sunset, which we all enjoyed from the top of the hill.
Arts & Craft, Bridal Preparations and an outdoor Ceremony……
The Saturday morning started bright and early with an arts and craft session for all of the children. They were having fun making colourful hats, flags and banners. These were going to be used after the ceremony for a procession, with a live band, around the farm. Then it was a quick dash back to a local hotel, where the bride was getting ready. After that followed the most beautiful outdoor ceremony, just down the road at Purbeck Valley Farmhouse.
Wedding Celebrations back at the Farm!
The rest of the day was back at Knoll Farm. The wedding breakfast took place in the beautifully decorated barn. This was followed by some moving speeches, fun circus games and some pretty impressive dancing. It was the most fantastic hot summer’s day – nobody could have asked for better weather for this incredible festival-themed camping wedding weekend.
As I drove back to London I think I smiled pretty much the whole way home. I’m so glad I made the journey down to Dorset to photograph this lovely couple’s wedding. It really is such a beautiful part of this country and it was great to be surrounded by the couple’s wonderful family again.
