Oxford Wedding Photographer – Jacqui & Tom

Posted by & filed under Weddings.

I am so lucky now that most of my photography work is in London where I live. Occasionally however I get offered something special away from London that looks so appealing I just can’t say no! And this amazing Oxford wedding was one of those cases!

When Jacqui got in touch about photographing her Oxford wedding I had no hesitation in saying yes. The two of us go back a long way – I won’t say exactly how many years but it’s a fair few! We first met back in my days as a violinist when we both worked at the Royal Opera House. Jacqui was one the nicest, friendliest people I’d ever met, and we hit it off straight away!

Although I don’t work outside London too often I’ve done quite a few Oxford weddings. Apart from it being a wonderful place for photography my in-laws also happen to live there. So it works out perfectly to combine a weekend of work and catching up with family.

I arrived at Jacqui and Tom’s house one beautifully warm sunny morning in July. We were in the middle of that amazing heatwave we had this year, but luckily it wasn’t too hot! The house was buzzing full of people, just the way I like it to be on the morning of a wedding. Between them Jacqui and Tom have quite a few children and grandchildren, so there were people coming and going all the time, creating a great atmosphere to the preparations.

When the wedding ceremony is only a few minutes walk from your home….

Despite so much going on in the house Jacqui got ready calmly and looked absolutely stunning! She walked the short walk with Tom to their local church where they were to be married. It was so lovely photographing them walking together – so happy and excited about the day of celebrations ahead.

The service was beautiful and emotional and full of wonderful music. All the musicians were friends or family – one advantage of being a professional musician! We then made our way to the reception at the Plough Pub in Wolvercote – the guests travelled on Vintage Buses which looked such fun and was also extremely photogenic.

The reception venue was absolutely perfect on this wonderful summer’s day! It looked out onto the most beautiful countryside and canal, which we made full use of for the bride and groom portraits. One barge owner even invited Jacqui and Tom onto her boat for some photos which was a lovely touch.

The celebrations and partying went on late into the warm summer’s evening. It was fantastic to catch up with Jacqui again and meet Tom – they really do make the most perfect couple.
