Natural Family Photography

I love this moment from one of my recent natural family photography sessions. It was the second time I’d photographed this lovely family and it was great to see them again. We’d met originally at the North End Road Summer Market where they’d booked one of my London family photography sessions. We had a wonderful time getting lots of beautiful images of them with their first daughter, who was around eight months old at the time.

They got in touch again a couple of months ago, just as lockdown was starting to ease. They’d since had another baby girl and were keen to have her photographed at around the same age. It’s a really lovely time to photograph babies as they are sitting up well on their own. This makes it really easy to get some natural portraits of them outdoors in nature.

We met up one morning at the end of July. It was going to be a very hot day, so we were all happy with the early start. This session was in the same location as the first one, so after a quick catch up we began taking some family portraits. We followed roughly the same route as we had before, so it all felt very relaxed and comfortable.

The portrait below was taken at one of my favourite spots in this particular park. The family sat together on a wall with a small lake and trees in the background. It really was a wonderful setting and above all the light was perfect. As the parents chatted to their two girls the eldest one leant over and whispered something to her baby sister. It was such a sweet moment and one that I was extremely happy to have caught in this natural family portrait.
