As a Hampstead family photographer, I’m lucky to work in one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in London – Hampstead Heath. It was a lovely family of three – mum, dad, and their little girl – and from the very beginning, the session felt relaxed and full of joy. Their daughter looked so sweet in her floral dress, and her parents clearly adored every moment with her. As a result, the whole shoot was filled with natural smiles and genuine connection.
Natural family portraits on Hampstead Heath
We started among the beautiful trees of the Heath. Mum and dad cuddled their daughter as they sat together on a tree trunk. These quiet moments created such a warm and intimate feel.
Then, the energy picked up as they walked through the Heath. They swung her up into the air, which she absolutely loved. Naturally, this brought lots of laughter and movement into the photos. These are often the moments that families treasure the most.
Playing in the Long Grass
Next, we spent some time in an area of long grass. It’s such a simple setting, yet it works so well for family photography. The soft textures and open space allow children to play freely.
Their little girl explored and enjoyed every second. Meanwhile, mum and dad joined in, which made everything feel even more natural and we captured a lovely mix of playful and peaceful images.
A Beautiful Backdrop for Family Portraits
We also made our way to one of the Heath’s lakes. The setting here was stunning, and it added a calm, timeless feel to the gallery.
We took a variety of photos, including all three together, as well as mum and daughter, and dad and daughter. In addition, we captured some beautiful individual portraits of their little girl, which really highlighted her personality.
Capturing What Matters Most
What stood out most during this session was the connection between them. There was so much love, laughter, and attention in every interaction. Because of that, nothing felt posed or forced.
Sessions like this are exactly why I love being a Hampstead family photographer. It’s about more than just taking photos. It’s about capturing real moments in places that families love.
In the end, this shoot was full of warmth, movement, and joy. And those are the memories that will last a lifetime.
