One of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2019 is to blog more! I always start each year with good intent but as my photography work gets busier my blogs tend to disappear! This year I have promised myself it will be different. And one of the topics I’d like to share are my favourite wedding venues, starting with Chelsea Old Town Hall
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed at so many wonderful wedding venues. I have photographed fantastic couples tying the knot in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Sussex, Surrey, Dorset, Kent, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire and other places I can’t remember! But nowadays nearly all my weddings are in London. And one venue I keep coming back to again and again is Chelsea Old Town Hall – I just can’t get enough of it!
Those fabulous steps!
It is in such a fabulous location – situated in the heart of Chelsea on the fashionable King’s Road. I adore the iconic steps leading up to the blue door. It’s one of my favourite entrances and perfect for capturing the confetti shot after the bride and groom have said I do. The King’s Road is always so busy and there are normally lots of cheers from passers-by while we’re doing the group portrait photographs which adds to the celebratory atmosphere.
Portraits and Party Time!
After the ceremony there are lots of quirky side streets perfect for some London wedding portraits. And of course, there are a huge number of restaurants within walking distance that are ideal for the wedding reception. One of my favourites has to be the Ivy Chelsea Garden. I photographed a wedding party in a private room there last year and it was stunning – from the flowers surrounding the entrance to the exquisitely decorated dining room.
