Tower Bridge Family Photography

This Tower Bridge family photography session was a lovely one and I’m so happy to share it with you! The family in the photos below had been living in London for a while and were about to move back to America. So they booked one of my London family photography sessions just before they made the big move back home. They wanted to have some beautiful family portraits taken at their favourite London locations. This way they would always have wonderful memories of the very special time they had living in this amazing city.

Beautiful colourful family portraits

We met up early one morning in the summer at my favourite London location – Tower Bridge. I absolutely love this area of London. There are so many amazing backdrops that I can use in my family photography. As well as Tower Bridge itself, there are also some fun colourful walls close by. I love going there with families as there is such a wide choice of patterned walls to choose from. Often I’ll choose the first one for the whole family. Then sometimes each child can pick their favourite for their individual portraits – it works so well!

Tower Bridge family photography portraits

The family chose a lovely blue and white wall for one of their portraits. It’s the first photo below and I think it works wonderfully! We then took some more natural family portraits in front of the historic Dickens Inn, which is in such a beautiful location. And then on to the star of the vacation show – Tower Bridge! It’s such a beautiful bridge and so often requested by families to appear in their photos. And I have to say it looked particularly good with the colours the family chose to wear, adding to the polished feel of these London family portraits.

Holland Park Family Photographer

I love being a Holland Park family photographer! And this London family photography session was a good one!  Last year I photographed this lovely family at Chiswick House. The session was a surprise birthday present for the mum, and luckily it was a good surprise! She really enjoyed her London family photography session and loved the resulting photos of her family. I was overjoyed!

This year she got back in touch to book another London family photoshoot. This time it was to celebrate her wedding anniversary. And I was really happy when she chose Holland Park as the location for these family portraits. It’s one of my favourite London parks – quite small but perfectly formed! It has a wonderful mixture of beautiful trees, colourful flower beds and stunning architecture. It really has everything necessary for a wonderful family photography session.

Holland Park family photographer with dogs!

The family have three fun children, and I was so looking forward to photographing them again. Even more so when I discovered that their two family dogs were joining us. One of them was still a puppy and was unbelievably cute!

Our family portrait session went brilliantly and we all had a great time. And we got a great variety of beautiful relaxed portraits and more candid shots of the children and dogs playing together.

Recreating some Holland Park engagement portraits

We finished our family photoshoot with an idea from the parents. When they were engaged, they had some photos taken in a picturesque mews street, close to Holland Park. They absolutely loved these photos and wanted to recreate them including their children. If you look at the last four photos in the blog below, you’ll see a sequence of photos of the expanding family. It was such a wonderful idea and I just love the resulting series of family portraits.

Large Family Group Portraits

I love to include large family group portraits in my London family photography sessions. I actually really enjoy it! It might take a little more organising but I’m comfortable with that. And there’s such a good atmosphere when a large family group get together that it adds to the fun element of the photographs.

The lovely family in the photos below met up in London this summer. Some of them lived here, some abroad – so they wanted to have some relaxed family portraits taken in their favourite London park.

Large family group portraits with beautiful trees

I began this London family photography session with the largest family group. These shots usually work better at the beginning of the shoot when everyone is fresh and excited to be there! I chose to have some beautifully lit trees in the background. These provided such a lovely natural backdrop to the family portraits.

Once I had enough fun family portraits of everyone together I took photos of smaller family groups. And then I got some individual portraits of everyone. I finished the session with some candid shots of the two youngest boys playing together and with other family members. I was then happy that I had a good variety of shots in the final gallery.

Book your own London Family Photography session

I enjoyed this session so much and was delighted to hear the family were overjoyed with the photos! If you’re getting together with family and would like some large family group portraits taken, please get in touch. You can see more of my family work here London Family Photographer

Family Park Portraits

I was so happy with these family park portraits which I took during a recent London vacation photography session. The family were delightful, the weather was perfect, and the park was looking at its best. What’s not to love?!

The best location for your London Vacation Photography session

When families get in touch with me to book one of my London holiday photo sessions the biggest decision is the location of the shoot. Some families know exactly where they want their family portraits taken. Maybe in front of a particular London landmark or in a famous park. Others are not so sure and are looking for advice. In these cases, I’m more than happy to recommend some options and work out the perfect place for them. Then by the time the family arrive in London we have a plan of action and I can’t wait to meet them!

The family of four in the photos below were staying opposite one of London’s most famous parks and that’s exactly where they wanted their family photography session to take place. I didn’t blame them as it is the most beautiful of parks! We met up nice and early, when the light was at its best, and began our family portrait photography session.

Beautiful family park portraits

In this stunning London park, there was a lovely path running through it, surrounded by tall trees. I asked the family to walk towards me on the path – they didn’t need to look at me, but could just chat about their holiday. The resulting portrait is the first one below. I love it! They just look so relaxed and obviously happy to be spending precious time together on their London vacation. I took the other two family portraits in some long grass we found on one side of the park. And I was so pleased with how they turned out too!

Tower Bridge Family Photography

I know I say this about all my work, but I really did love this Tower Bridge family photography session! It was with a wonderful family who were about to move back to America after living in London for a while. So they wanted to have some family portraits taken at their favourite London landmarks. Therefore always being reminded of the special time they had living in this amazing capital city.

The family had booked one of my longer sessions, so we were able to cover quite a lot of ground. The aim was to start near Tower Bridge and finish at Borough Market. And in between include a lot of their favourite London sights in the photographs.

London family portraits with a red phone box

We began the session taking family portraits in front of some fantastic colourful walls. This got us off to a great start and I knew it was going to be a fun few hours! We then included the historic Dickens Inn in the background of some of the photos. And we ended this first part of the family photoshoot using a red telephone box as a backdrop to the very “London” family portrait photographs.

Tower Bridge family photography – unique images

After that we made our way to Tower Bridge itself and created stunning images on both sides of the river. And, of course, we included my favourite Shad Thames in some of these London portraits. Following a stroll in front of City Hall and a quick sit down near Tower Bridge, it was time to walk to Borough Market.

I love the colours and quirky backdrops around this famous food market so much. And I could tell it was one of the family’s favourite London locations too. We got a great variety of relaxed family portraits here before finishing the session with some fun shots in front of a bright red pub. It was the perfect colourful ending to a wonderful London family photography session!

If you are about to move away from London, or maybe you’ve just arrived, and would like some portraits at London landmarks please do get in touch. To see more examples of my London photography please take a look at my website here London Vacation Photographer

Outdoor Baby Photography

I just loved this outdoor baby photography session, which took place over the summer. Depending on the age of the baby I try and do my London baby photography sessions outside, ideally in the family’s favourite park. Obviously if the baby is newborn, or the weather is cold, then the session will take place in the family home. But if the baby is older, especially if they are sitting up unaided, then it’s lovely to use the natural backdrop of a beautiful park in the photos.

A floral outdoor baby photography session

I met up with the lovely family in the photos below in one of my favourite London parks. It was looking at its gloriously best with the flowers in full bloom. And the bright floral colours provided a wonderful background for these sweet baby portraits.

The baby boy and his doting parents were absolutely wonderful to photograph. They were full of fun and laughter and the one-hour session just flew past. We started with lots of relaxed family portraits of the three of them together. After that we also got some photos of mother and son, and some of father and son. This gives the family a fantastic variety of photos to choose from when they receive their gallery of photos.

Such a fun baby portrait

One of my favourite baby portraits from this session is the fourth one down. The parents popped their baby boy down in front of one of the beautiful flower beds in the park. I can’t quite remember what the parents did or said, but they certainly got a great reaction from their boy. He laughed and laughed while I clicked away. And I was delighted with the resulting natural baby portrait.

Graduation Portraits

Although I spend most of my working life as a London family photographer, I also love creating beautiful graduation portraits. The students I photograph are at an exciting time in their lives, as they graduate from their universities and colleges. And it’s wonderful to capture their happiness in a series of natural portraits.

Natural family portraits

As well as taking lots of graduation portraits of the students on their own, I also include their families in some relaxed portraits. I just know these photographs of proud parents with their talented children will be treasured for generations to come.

The beautiful young lady in the photo below had just graduated from University College London. She had a wonderful time studying at this prestigious London university. And although sad it was over, she was also delighted to start making her way in the London working world. I look forward to seeing what she ends up doing. I think it’s going to be something pretty special!

University College London graduation portraits

She was such fun to spend time with, and incredibly easy to photograph. Her lovely smile and happy nature shone through in all her graduation portraits. I also really love the photos of her with her doting parents. They were obviously so proud of everything their daughter had achieved already in her life.

After we’d got a lovely selection of individual and group portraits, it was time to get something a little different. We were taking the photos in the grounds of University College London, and it had a beautiful stone staircase that I knew would look really striking in some of the photographs. I asked the young lady to walk down the stairs. As she made her way down the steps, she lifted both arms in the air so elegantly and I just love the resulting graduation portrait! This talented lady making her way carefully but confidently into the next stage of her life.

Professional photography awards

I feel very lucky in my career as a London family photographer to have won numerous professional photography awards. And I appreciate every single one of them!

One of my favourite award-winning photos, below, was from a fantastic family photography session in one of London’s most beautiful parks. I met the mum at a church fair, where I had a stand promoting my family photography. After chatting for a while she decided to book her own family in for one of my fun sessions!

Fun family photography, whatever the weather!

On the morning of our family photoshoot the weather was threatening rain. However we decided to go ahead and hope for the best. I’m so glad we did, as it turned out to be a brilliant session, full of laughter. And the slight drizzle didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at all.

We got lots of portraits of the whole family together and then concentrated on the four children with their beloved pet dog. The brothers and sisters sat on a large fallen down tree trunk (which always provide the perfect seat for a family portrait) and I snapped away, getting a variety of shots.

Fingers crossed for professional photography awards!

This family photograph ended up being one of my favourites, so I sent it into a competition and crossed my fingers! I was delighted when I found out it had won one of the professional photography awards! It’s such a fun portrait, even the dog seems to be smiling as he is cuddled by his big sister!

If you’re interested in booking one of my fun London family photography sessions, please do get in touch. I’d love to meet up and create some potentially award-winning portraits of your family. But above all I’d like you to really enjoy the session! More details of my work can be found here London Family Photographer

London Holiday Photographer

My work as a London holiday photographer is varied and fun! I love meeting up with families visiting this wonderful city that I’m lucky enough to call home. Hearing all about their lives and seeing their excitement at visiting London’s fabulous landmarks is a joy.

Choosing the perfect London Vacation Photography session for your family.

Sometimes when a family gets in touch, they know exactly where they’d like to do their London holiday photography session. Either they’ve visited London before, or they’ve seen photos of the best London sights and are eager to include them in the family portraits. Other families ask me for suggestions and I’m always happy to give them some options. My aim is to offer them a London vacation session that completely suits their needs.

There are lots of possible locations on my website here London Vacation Photographer. But I can also recommend some lesser known areas of London that work brilliantly for London family portraits. These can be perfect for families that prefer to avoid the crowds.

London Holiday Photographer at Tower Bridge

The lovely family in the photos below had chosen one of my most popular locations for their London holiday photography session – Tower Bridge. I was so happy as this really is one of my favourite areas of London. As well as the impressive Tower Bridge itself, there are also some surrounding streets that work perfectly for natural family portraits. One of these is Shad Thames, where we got some lovely walking shots of the family, happily chatting about their holiday adventures.

As well as taking lots of relaxed family portraits during a session, I also like to take individual portraits and couple shots. This gives the family a fantastic selection of images to choose from after the session. I love the portraits we got of each family member on this session, with the perfect backdrop of Tower Bridge.

If you’re planning a holiday to London in the future and would like to remember your visit with a set of fantastic professional images, please do get in touch. I’d love to meet you!

Tower Bridge Family Portraits

This was such a fun afternoon creating Tower Bridge family portraits. The area around Tower Bridge is one of my favourite locations for my London vacation photography sessions. And it’s an area I return to regularly with families on holiday in this fantastic city.

Apart from Tower Bridge itself, which in my opinion is the most photogenic in London, there are so many interesting surrounding areas.

The warehouses of Shad Thames

One of those is Shad Thames a historic riverside street next to Tower Bridge, lined with converted warehouses, which look fabulous in photos.

From Tower Bridge you can then walk along the river towards London Bridge, taking in more fascinating sights along the way. There’s City Hall an iconic building, home to the Mayor of London’s offices. Then across the river you can see the Tower of London, and the city of London. So different but equally wonderful in photos.

The fabulous ceiling of Hay’s Galleria

Walking on past HMS Belfast we reach another place I love to photograph – Hay’s Galleria. With its impressive vaulted ceiling it’s a great location for photos and you can also grab a bite to eat in one of its cafes or eateries.

Fun family portraits at Borough Market

And talking about food – if you keep walking beyond London Bridge, you’ll reach Borough Market, London’s premier food market. Not only is it a wonderful place to eat, but it’s fabulous for some fun, quirky family photographs.

More Tower Bridge family portraits

I hope you enjoyed my virtual tour around Tower Bridge and along the river. And I hope you like the photo of this fabulous fun family strolling happily across the grass, with the spectacular backdrop of Tower Bridge behind them. More photos to follow soon from this London vacation photography session.
