London Musicians Photographer | St James Paddington

Posted by & filed under Musicians.

As a London Musicians Photographer I am lucky enough to photograph musicians who play all different instruments. All the sessions take place outside on location. This ensures the resulting photos are as natural as possible. I love to photograph the musician with their instrument in parks and around the streets of London. I’ll take the photographs pretty much anywhere to add a different element to the images. Obviously one instrument this won’t work with is the piano (although I’d love to try one day!) So an indoor venue with a piano is necessary for part of the musicians photography session.

St James Paddington – what a perfect venue!

I was so happy when Elena got in touch with me from Hong Kong. She asked me if I could photograph her while she was over visiting London. Elena is an extremely talented pianist and composer who studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She was coming over for a week and wanted to book in a photography session to get a variety of images that she could use for her publicity. She wanted some photos with piano and some without. After looking at a few different options Elena settled on having part of the shoot at St. James’s Church Paddington. What a venue – I was over the moon!

So we met up at St. James’s one morning in March for the first hour of our session with piano. Elena was all ready and looked amazing in her bright red concert dress. We took a mixture of more formal photos of her with the piano and some more natural ones with her playing. The church served as the most fantastic backdrop to the photos – and it was also fabulous to hear Elena play so beautifully in some a wonderful venue.

After an hour it was time for a quick change from pianist to composer – Elena opted for an elegant white trouser suit for the next batch of photos – and we headed across the road to the park. Again we got a lovely mix of formal portraits and more informal images. We included some of Elena sitting at a bench with score and pencil, as if she was composing her symphony.

Elena was so lovely and such fun to work with and I was delighted to hear from Hong Kong how much she’d enjoyed the session and that she was overjoyed with the photos. So much so that she’d like to do another photo session when she’s next back in London. I can’t wait!
