Natural Wedding Photography at The Cawdor Hotel with Katie and Ioan

Posted by & filed under Weddings.

Katie and Ioan were married just before Christmas at the Cawdor Hotel, Llandeilo. Not only was it my first wedding photography at the Cawdor Hotel, but it was my first wedding photography in Wales. To say I was excited was a bit of an understatement! It was such a beautiful, romantic setting and perfect for this Winter wedding with such a wonderful couple.

One of the things that gets a lot of talk time in the lead up to a wedding is the weather. Many wedding days are dependent on some dry spells for at least part of the day. Having said that it is, of course, one factor that you can’t control. As much as the bride and groom plan for every event, the wedding photographer does exactly the same. They prepare for every eventuality that might come their way.

Rain, rain, go away…..

And so it was, against all the forecasts, that after a few days of torrential rain, the wedding day itself remained perfectly dry until the evening. Following some very relaxed bridal preparations Katie made the short walk to the chapel for the ceremony. She looked absolutely stunning! It was a wonderful service with some fabulous musical moments carefully positioned throughout.

A very musical wedding ceremony

Firstly, everyone was treated to some fantastic violin playing by Ioan’s sister. This was then followed by some stirring singing from a Welsh male voice choir, of which Ioan’s father is a member. The choir gathered again later at the reception for a couple of impromptu numbers. Their powerful voices really did make quite an impression!

The rain held off just long enough for us to get some beautiful portraits of the couple in various spots around Llandeilo. Then it was on to the reception where everyone ate, drank, sang and danced late into the night.

Here are a selection of images from the day – hope you enjoy seeing them.
