London is full of iconic landmarks, and Big Ben is always high on the list for visiting families. This session was a lovely example of how a relaxed walk through the city can create a beautiful set of Big Ben vacation photos.
I met this family of four – mum, dad, and two sisters – on Westminster Bridge. Right away, we kept things simple. They walked hand in hand across the bridge while I photographed them with Big Ben behind them. The movement made everything feel natural. As a result, the photos captured both the energy of the city and the connection within the family.
A Quiet Garden with a View of Big Ben
After the bridge, we moved to a small garden nearby with views across the river. It was much quieter here, which gave the girls space to run and play.
They loved having room to move. Meanwhile, mum and dad could relax and enjoy the moment. These kinds of in-between locations often create some of the most genuine photographs.
Southbank Family Photographs
Next, we wandered along the Southbank. This area is perfect for London vacation photography because it offers so much variety within a short distance.
We stopped at Jubilee Gardens, where the London Eye creates a brilliant backdrop. Here, we captured a mix of family portraits and more playful moments.
The girls obviously enjoyed being together, which made the photographs feel relaxed and full of life.
Fun and Colour Along the Way
Further along the Southbank, we used a bright yellow staircase near the Royal Festival Hall. The bold colour added something fun and different to the gallery.
After that, we made our way to the nearby Skateboard Park. Covered in graffiti, it’s one of my favourite spots for something a little more playful.
The contrast between the colourful walls and the earlier London landmarks worked beautifully. It added variety while still keeping the session natural and easy.
A Favourite Route for London Vacation Photography
This route – from Westminster to the Southbank – is one of my favourites for family sessions. It combines famous landmarks with quieter spaces and more creative backdrops.
Most importantly, it allows families to explore the city together. Along the way, I simply capture the moments as they happen.
That’s what makes Big Ben vacation photos feel so special. They’re not just about the landmarks, but about the experience of being there together.
