Westminster is one of the most iconic parts of the city, which is why it’s one of my favourite places for vacation photos. This London photography session took place with a lovely family of three visiting the city for a holiday – mum, dad, and their son. They wanted relaxed photographs that would capture their time in London, while including some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
We began the session near Big Ben and the historic Houses of Parliament. This area is one of the most popular locations for London vacation photography sessions, and it’s easy to see why. The famous architecture creates an unmistakable London backdrop, while the surrounding streets offer lots of interesting details for photographs.
During the session we captured a variety of images, including relaxed family portraits of all three together. We also took some playful photos of their son on his own as he explored the area, as well as a few quiet moments of just mum and dad together while enjoying their trip.
Classic London Details in Westminster
One of the things that makes Westminster such a great location for vacation photos in London is the variety of classic London details nearby. During this session we were lucky enough to include one of the city’s famous red buses passing by, which always adds a fun and authentic London feel to the photographs.
We also stopped beside a traditional red telephone box, with Big Ben visible behind it. These bright red phone boxes have become one of London’s most recognisable symbols. And they always make a fantastic addition to vacation photos.
A Walk Through St James’s Park
After spending time around Westminster, we continued the session with a short walk to St James’s Park. This beautiful park is just a few minutes away but feels quieter than the busy streets nearby.
One of the highlights here is the view from Blue Bridge. You can see Buckingham Palace in the distance one way and the London Eye the other way. It’s a wonderful spot for photographs, with the lake, trees, and famous London landmarks all coming together in one scene.
We took a mixture of relaxed family portraits and natural walking shots as the family enjoyed exploring the park together.
A Favourite Location for London Vacation Photography
Westminster and St James’s Park together make one of the best routes for London vacation photography. Within a short walk you can include many of the city’s most famous landmarks while still keeping the session relaxed and enjoyable.
For families visiting London, sessions like this create a beautiful record of their trip – capturing not only the famous sights, but also the simple moments spent exploring the city together.
