Tower Bridge Wedding Photographer – London

Posted by & filed under Weddings.

It’s the first time I’d been asked to be a Tower Bridge Wedding Photographer and I was so excited! The prospect of photographing a wedding inside one of London’s iconic landmarks was an adventure I couldn’t wait for. Ever since Vicki and David booked me as their wedding photographer I had been anticipating the immense potential of the historic location. In fact, the whole day lived up to my, already high, expectations.

As a Londoner myself, I adore photographing London weddings in the wonderful locations across the capital. Tower Bridge is right up there near the top of the list. The couple chose this venue partly because of its stunning beauty but also because they live and work close by. So it was really a very natural and meaningful setting for them.

Wedding portraits with a view – right at the top of Tower Bridge!

The wedding service, in the North Tower Lounge of the Bridge, was an intimate and emotional ceremony. It was followed by an exclusive guided tour for the guests. One of the special privileges extended to couples getting married in Tower Bridge is access to the restricted balconies right at the top of the bridge. Vicki and David asked me if I’d like to follow them up to the top of the Tower so we could take some portrait shots incorporating the stunning views that they were so keen to capture as a backdrop to their wedding photographs.

As we climbed the tiny spiral staircase higher and higher I decided not to mention that I occasionally get vertigo. Stepping outside onto that tiny gallery was only slightly scary…. honest! The views were truly spectacular and breathtaking in more ways than one. All in a day’s work for this London wedding photographer! I’m happy to report that we all eventually returned back to land safe and sound with some stunning photos.

Wedding reception at St Katharine Docks

It was then a short walk along the Thames riverbank to the reception at the River Lounge Restaurant in St. Katharine Docks. The glorious weather allowed the guests to enjoy drinks on the balcony overlooking the docks. After that everyone sat down for the delicious wedding breakfast. One very special moment of the day was when Vicki’s father produced a bottle of champagne that had been saved from Vicki’s christening. It clearly went down rather well with the wedding party!

This fun-loving and chilled out couple’s reception continued late into the night. Vicki and David took centre stage with their guests and Tower Bridge provided the unique background to this truly London wedding.
