It was lovely to photograph this family in their home in the new year. The session began with some fun family portraits of them all together. We captured everyone smiling, laughing, and simply enjoying time in their living room. As a London family photographer, I always love sessions that feel genuine and comfortable, where families can just be themselves. The parents chatted with their children, while I photographed their joyful expressions, producing the kind of natural family portraits that really show connection.

The family then played a game of cards, something they do regularly together. Their facial expressions were priceless – there was laughter, bemusement, surprise – all perfect for producing some candid family photographs.

Individual portraits at home

Next, we moved on to some individual portraits. Each family member had their turn in front of the camera, bringing out their unique personality. Even their beloved cat joined in for a few photos, adding a fun touch to the gallery. Shooting indoors with natural lighting makes images that feel homely and timeless. As a London family photographer, I find that home sessions are ideal for capturing relaxed and authentic moments, as everyone feels comfortable in their own space.

Outdoor family portraits

To finish the session, we headed outside for a short walk around their neighbourhood. The family enjoyed the crisp winter air and shared plenty of laughs as they explored nearby streets and parks. These London family portraits had a wonderful mix of movement, connection, and joy. I always encourage families to include a short outdoor segment – it adds variety to the final collection and truly captures their everyday London life.
