As a London vacation photographer I really enjoy being asked to photograph families who live abroad. It’s great to document their travels while they visit the landmarks of London for their holidays.
Photos along the River Thames
I was so pleased when Jane got in touch from Indonesia to say she was coming to London with her family. She asked me to take some photographs of them visiting some of the well-known landmarks in London. She asked for recommendations of great places for the photo shoot and I immediately thought of the Southbank. I’ve photographed along this stretch of the River Thames so many times before so it’s an area I know well. It’s also perfect for a family portrait shoot and especially so for a family exploring London for the first time. I brushed up on my history so I could tell them about the places we would be passing along the River Thames!
Westminster Bridge, The London Eye, The Oxo Tower and more……
So I met up with Jane, her son and her husband last summer at Westminster Bridge. We started off with some shots in front of the Houses of Parliament. We then spent a few hours wandering along the Southbank as far as Tower Bridge. This gave us the chance to use some magnificent London landmarks, including the London Eye, as backdrops along the way. We had a quick coffee break by the Oxo Tower where it was great to hear about life in Indonesia. We then carried on along the River Thames making use of some of the striking buildings, including St Paul’s, Tower Bridge and the Shard.
I enjoyed meeting Jane and her family so much and was thrilled to hear from her on their return to Indonesia that they were overjoyed with the photos. They also loved the fact they now have a permanent record of their first ever holiday in London.
Return visit to London!
It was also a lovely surprise when she let me know that they’d booked another London holiday just before the New Year. I was so excited when she asked me to come along and photograph them again. I can’t wait to share some of those photos with you soon.
